Will the Mile Die Club stamp their authority on the 2021 season and reign supreme or will the lofty champions be knocked from the top by the Road Train Rollers? This is sure to be an intense grudge match as both teams try to take control of the season.

As always, the Lil’ Commie Bastards will be our quick-witted MCs and the Bout Village will be packed with full of stalls of locally made creations. The bar will be open; bring a chair, blankets or cushion for your tush, and of course, hot food and drinks will be available to purchase.

Adelaide Roller Derby was established in 2007 and is Adelaide’s oldest and largest roller derby league. Comprised of approximately 110 members, the league has four home teams, three travel teams, and an amazing team of officials.

The league is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned and operated by members, for members. Roller Derby is a full-contact sport. The sport operates on a DIY ethos – the skaters do everything from training plans to event management and merchandising.

Roller Derby across the world is empowering individuals, building community and creating positive change.

Adelaide Roller Derby – Media information

Adelaide Roller Derby (ADRD) was established in 2007 and is Adelaide’s oldest and largest roller derby league. Comprised of approximately 110 members, the league has four home teams, three travel teams, and an amazing team of officials.

Our league is a not-for-profit organisation that is owned and operated by members and for members. The league is split into four home teams: Wild Hearses, Salty Dolls, Mile Die Club and Road Train Rollers. These teams are supported by Team Zebra, our referee and official crew.

Roller Derby (pronounced like Furby) is a full contact sport played according to the international Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) rules. The sport operates on a DIY ethos – everything is done by our members from training plans, to event management and publicity to making merchandise.

The game is played on an oval track, on concrete, wooden or sports courts, with each team comprising of 15 players. Five players from each team take to the track for each “jam”, which can last for up to two minutes. Offense and defense are played simultaneously, with one skater from each team, the “jammer” (they’re the one with a star on their helmet), scoring a point for each member of the opposing team on their second and subsequent laps. The other four members from each team forming packs of “blockers”, who assist their jammer whilst aiming to stop the other team’s jammer from making a scoring pass.

Adelaide Roller Derby is renowned across Australia for its high-standard of play and its strong sense of community and commitment to developing our sport. We host the world’s largest derby tournament, “The Great Southern Slam”, every other year (like 2018) featuring three days of derby across six tracks with leagues from across Australia and New Zealand.

Roller Derby across the world is empowering skaters, building community and creating positive change. We encourage everyone to get along to bouts put on by leagues in their local area. A night with ADRD offers amazing athleticism, big hits, laughs and great entertainment from local bands and performers.

Bouts provide great photo opportunities, however, photos can be arranged prior if necessary.
